The Mend

Band: Among The Wild

Lyrics

Can you help me find my reason? Find my common sense?
You’re so cold and taciturn and deaf to my laments

Can you help me find affection? Find a willing heart?
You're so fierce, caught up in passion, blinded now in-part

How am I supposed to see you clearly, mired a heart unkind?
I don't wanna speak and still leave you behind, oh darling
Tell me all the things I don’t remember, tell me why you're my best friend
Show me how to love and improvise cause now this Is. The. Mend.

Will you help me know discretion, still my wand'ring thoughts?
I'm so tired and prodigal, emotion all for naught

Will you help me know compassion, ease my callous tongue?
I'm so lost and calculating, hurt but yet unstung

Oh round and round we go again
Misappropriating all we’ve said
Oh round and round we go again
I am tethered

I don't wanna speak and still leave you behind, oh darling
Tell me all the things I don’t remember, tell me why you're my best friend
Show me how to love and improvise cause now this Is. The. Mend

The Glade

Poetry

I wandered from the path
one day and found in the trees a glade
where sun and soil grew life
and where dying needles fed their kin
there on soft earthen beds
was hope too, patient as it is
with the gentle reminder of life
hidden in my own dying needles
where the soil is rich and ripe
and where the seeds of taller trees
wait

Uncountable

Poetry

Uncountable stars
The dust of genesis
Sing choruses in orbits
Warring with darkness
In light-filled procession
Offering form to formless reaches
Here where stars live in heavenly tapestry
Dust of a new genesis
Multiplies in darkness
The quiet whisper of life
Forms from formless
A brighter light than those above
Full of hope
Never seen
Forever known
Destined to dwell
Among the day-blind lights
Of uncountable stars

Dust

Poetry

When Adam was only dust
From the earth
No more alive
Than a seed
Darkness hovered
Over waters without purpose
The formless waited
Patient and penitent
A hush
Eager
Pregnant
A pause
Then from silence
A song began
Ringing out to edges
Of existence and beyond
The image of the invisible
Making all things more
Than they were before
A symphony of purpose
Giving of itself
To beget something new
Filling seen and unseen
With the hope of glory
And the promise of the end
Of endings
Be still and listen
I can hear it there too
In the soul breathed into you
My little one
